Leicestershire community hospitals deploy e-Observations
Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust staff are using Nervecentre Electronic Observations, Handover and Clinical Assessments on mobile devices at eight community hospitals. With funding from the NHS England Nursing Technology Fund, the system was recently introduced at Coalville Hospital and is now being rolled out to all other inpatient medical wards in Hinckley, Leicester City, Loughborough, Lutterworth, Market Harborough, Melton and Oakham Community Hospitals.
Portsmouth implements trust-wide inventory management system
Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust is rolling out a single inventory management system across the entire trust. The trust is an early adopter of inventory management technology, which is gaining an increasing presence in the healthcare sector as a result of the government’s mandatory requirements for all trusts to implement inventory management and GS1 barcoding standards to improve efficiencies.
New baby monitoring system at St Peter’s Hospital
The labour ward at St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey has introduced an e-monitoring system for babies during labour, provided by EuroKing Maternity Software Solutions. The new e-CTG system means that paper records no longer have to be printed off as monitoring information is now displayed and stored digitally. Staff can view several cardiotocography traces for different women from anywhere on Labour Ward, including on a big screen in the central staff area.
Interoute helps migrate 70GB raw medical data for lifesaving NHS system
Interoute has supported Savant in successfully completing an Oracle upgrade project for the National Health Service Blood and Transplant Hematos IIG System. The underlying database needed a complex hardware platform migration as well as an upgrade from Oracle9i to Oracle 11g. Savant worked with Interoute for its Oracle expertise in order to ensure nationwide access to the critical bloodwork system was maintained throughout the project.

Wellcome Library chooses Preservica to safeguard its online medical resource
The Wellcome Library has partnered with Preservica to protect and future proof its 20TB and growing collection of digital material. This includes images, modern and early printed books, archives, manuscripts and London’s Medical Officer of Health reports. This material is freely available on the web, creating a world-class online resource.

Huddle transforms working practices for Sirona Care & Health
Sirona Care & Health implemented Huddle – a cloud collaboration platform that allows healthcare professionals to securely share sensitive information, research and administrative documents – in October 2014. It’s Learning Disabilities and Autism Division now has better control of all files and records and the organisation has also found it particularly helpful in recording and keeping data for the Care Quality Commission, as evidence can be added to a folder and shared with the CQC personnel within the Huddle workspace.
Visbion announce new online connectivity solution for Mobile Breast Screening
Visbion has developed a solution for the national breast screening programme. The service provides transfer of digital images; a real-time worklist on the x-ray unit in the van and live access to the trust NBSS system. This new service is based on Visbion’s Image Cube that has been used in mobile MRI and CT scanners across the UK to facilitate the transmission of standard DICOM images from mobile vans to a central PACS.
DXS International releases final results for the year
DXS International, supplier of clinical decision support systems to clinical commissioning groups and healthcare professionals, has announced its final results for the year to 30 April 2015. Highlights are that; turnover increased by 50%; 16 new CCGs were added during the year bringing total to 36 (1400 GP practices).
