Giving NHS staff the tools and technology they need to do their job is reaping significant clinical and financial benefits for Patientrack customers.

Reductions in cardiac arrests and mortality sit alongside shorter lengths of stay and less reliance on multiple paper assessment forms, thanks to its flexible and user-friendly electronic observations and alerting technology.

It is a story that is seen throughout the North West, where more and more hospitals are improving patient safety by using Patientrack – something that was recognised when Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was commended for outstanding practice by the CQC for its use of Patientrack.

Central Manchester’s work in early intervention for deteriorating patients won the 2016 North West Informatics award for the best improvement in patient safety. It was also an EHI Awards finalist in 2016, after winning in 2010.

In this case study, lead nurses from acute care at the trust reveal how its pioneering electronic observations work is delivering dramatic improvements in care delivery and assessments such as VTE. They also discuss how this has created a huge appetite from healthcare professionals and clinical departments for using the technology.
