A new Internet-based workforce management system has been developed by the South West London Workforce Development Confederation (WDC) to promote job vacancies and match people to NHS jobs more effectively.
The confederation is one of 27 new WDCs in England responsible for healthcare employment and training issues throughout their geographical areas.
According to Parity, the system’s developer, the new arrangements will enable the WDC to promote job vacancies centrally for the whole South West London area, capturing candidates’ employment requirements in a single electronic “candidate pool”.
“The system will enable the SWLWDC team to match available skills to current vacancies for medical and care staff, as they arise. In addition it will provide valuable management information, such as equal opportunities and recruitment statistics, while substantially reducing time spent on administrative tasks,”
Candidates can be tracked from application to job offer and placement stage with updates provided by e-mail or post for both the employer and the candidate. In addition, healthcare staff will be able to manage their job application and search for career opportunities via a general search or by registering for a “careers management account”.
Speaking for the WDC, assistant development director, Jane Tobin, said, “Staffing issues in the NHS are notoriously problematic and time consuming, so a system that allows us added time to provide a more comprehensive service to our patients is of substantial benefit.”
