Russells Hall Hospital will be the first in the UK to implement the new syngo.plaza picture archiving and communications system from Siemens Healthcare.
The hospital, which is part of The Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, will replace its existing Siemens’ PACS through its managed equipment service contract.
The hospital has around 2,500 PACS users who will now be able to read images in any dimension on any workstation via an intuitive user interface.
Siemens says the system stores user preferences, organises images according to individual clinicians’ needs and offers an overview of a patient’s history.
Stephen Cotton, IT manager at Russells Hall Hospital, said: “Syngo.plaza will allow us to stay ahead of the game and provide the best quality imaging to patients.
“Users of this new system will have the same functionality from whatever workstation they use, allowing them the flexibility to view images in 3D and merge a number of images into one.
"The solution will also allow us to maximise the up-time of the system so we can deal with patients more efficiently.”
Russells Hall Hospital will also integrate the system with its syngo.via visualisation system to assist with PACS training.
