EHI News has changed and become Digital Health News; a new name to reflect the changing face of healthcare IT and digital health and social care.

With the new name comes a new domain, digitalhealth.net. Digital Health brings together EHI News, EHI Intelligence, the CCIO Network and Health CIO Network – to create a new home for UK health IT.

For the next six months, anyone visiting the old ehi.co.uk domain will be taken to a landing page that asks whether they want to proceed to digitalhealth.net.

If you are looking for EHI News, choose digitalhealth.net and bookmark the new site. If you are looking for EHI Intelligence, choose digitalhealth.net. If you are looking for the CCIO Network or Health CIO Network, choose digitalhealth.net.

The Digital Health name is new but the core news team remains the same. It is led by Jon Hoeksma, CEO and editor; Lyn Whitfield, managing editor; Rebecca McBeth, news editor, and Thomas Meek, reporter.

Launched back in 2001 EHI News has set the agenda on NHS IT for the past 14 years, providing daily, independent, authoritative news and analysis. Digital Health News is not about to turn away from this rich heritage.

“We started just ahead of the National Programme for IT and we are not going to stop now, just when the sector is just starting to get interesting,” Hoeksma said.

Instead, Digital Health News will also cover other dimensions of the exciting and fast evolving UK health IT sector, including new technologies, apps, wearables, start-ups, research, and big data.

“Digital Health News will reflect the fact that the NHS and health IT has become much more diffuse,” Hoeksma continued.

“EHI News has traditionally concentrated on NHS clinical and enterprise IT, and this will remain our core focus.

“Increasingly though, it is technologies and digitally-enabled services originating outside the traditional NHS will disrupt and reshape future health and social care services.

“The change of name to Digital Health is a key step in repositioning the company to focus on a wider range of digital health developments now underway.”

Digital Health News, Digital Health Intelligence and Digital Health Networks will be increasingly integrated to create a single service for readers. A lot of these changes will come later in the year with the introduction of a brand new website.

“The key to success will be you, our readers – many of whom we know are long-term, loyal EHI subscribers,” Hoeksma added.

“The challenge is to ensure that under the Digital Health name we continue to provide the news, intelligence and communities that readers will want to keep reading and commenting, to recommend to colleagues, and to be involved in.

“In the first instance, we ask for your help in getting the message out by email, Twitter, LinkedIn, and chat that digitalhealth.net is the new home for ehi.co.uk.”

Informa will run EHI Live and the EHI Awards, following their sale to the company last November.
