Nuance launches Dragon Medical Practice Edition 3

Nuance Communications has launched the English version of Dragon Medical Practice Edition 3, a front-end, real-time speech recognition solution for single worker users in primary care practices and clinics. It is designed to be easy to deploy and to use with departmental systems or electronic medical records. Dr Alastair Dickson, a GP and health economist, argued in a company statement that it makes it easier for doctors to keep detailed and comprehensive notes, which is particularly important now more patients are getting access to their medical records.

Northgate Public Services launches integrated care portal

Northgate Public Services has launched an integrated care web portal that is designed to help people to manage their own care, by giving them access to self-assessment, support planning, community networking and purchasing tools. It is particularly intended to support the Care Act 2015, which puts a new emphasis on prevention and using personal budgets for care. Trevor Hampton, director of local government and housing solutions at NPS, said: "By enabling people to access their own care needs on-line through a joined-up facility we can hep to meet the needs of the Care Act and enable peple to play a bigger role in managing their own support. It will also lead to improved comunication and understanding with [professionals]."
