Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust plans to go live with Meditech v6.0 this financial year.
The trust, which has used an older version of the Meditech electronic patient record for 20 years, told EHI the upgrade was a natural progression.
“It is integrated across our business and therefore we see moving to v6.0 as a natural upgrade for us to make,” said a trust spokesperson.
The trust’s annual plan for 2012-13 says the trust was planning to deploy the system in April this year.
However, Deborah Price, company secretary at the trust, told EHI that although the trust had a “robust plan in place” to deploy the EPR, a go-live date has yet to be set.
“We will be meeting with both Meditech and Filetek later in the summer to set a definitive go-live date, which we would anticipate to be within the financial year,” she said.
Burton will also implement the upgraded system across its community sites. The trust board minutes say this “will allow patients to be treated seamlessly between sites and thereby increase efficiency.”
City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, another site using older Meditech technology, went live with v6.0 recently, while Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust has confirmed that it will be implementing the EPR.
The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust has also deployed the system, but after several operational issues, the trust put all further go-lives on hold.
The trust is now piloting the EPR to “re-engage” clinicians and will implement TPP’s SystmOne in A&E.
