Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust achieves technology first in Europe

Essentia, the non-clinical services arm of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, appointed ANS Group for a data centre transformation programme; part of a £10 million investment that will see the trust realise its ambitions to deliver a reliable, highly available paperless environment.

The transformation will allow electronic records to be instantly accessible between departments inside and outside the trust, leading to significant improvements in efficiency and patient care.

Gary McAllister, chief technology officer at Guy’s and St Thomas’ commented: “This transformation will allow us to deliver a completely new model for Essentia’s infrastructure services. This will further underpin our innovative approach and ability to deliver against the demanding uptime requirements for healthcare IT services.”

The technology behind the transformation is FlexPod, the integrated infrastructure collaboration between Cisco, NetApp and VMware. The technology enables Essentia to deliver rapid and agile IT for its customers.
