Emergency departments nationwide are dealing with unparalleled pressure, resulting in prolonged waiting times for patients in A&E and an unacceptable rise of patients receiving their care on a corridor. This strain not only jeopardises patient outcomes, but a clear association has also been shown between length of stay and patient outcomes, as well as intensifying the challenges faced by dedicated healthcare staff.

To tackle this national challenge, Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) are prioritising the digitisation of patient flow.

In this session, Mark Hutchinson, SVP Healthcare Strategy and Transformation, Altera Digital Health will lead a discussion with Pam Green, CNIO at WWL on the challenges around managing patient flow and explore WWL’s approach, including how they are continuing their digital transformation journey by adopting patient flow technology.

You will learn, how the trust is:

    • Navigating the need to provide high-quality care amidst ever-growing demands.

    • Using patient flow as a catalyst for change.

    • Looking ahead to improved patient flow and a positive impact on staff wellbeing as part of a comprehensive digital strategy.
