Tuesday 22 and Tuesday 29 September from 14.30 to 15.30

Cloud focus group

With NHS hospitals often operating on complex legacy systems that are both costly and outdated – what are the real costs of not moving to cloud?

The burden of maintaining legacy data centres, managing the risk of out of support IT systems that do not allow for interoperability, and maintaining security to keep data safe have prevented organisations from supporting innovation and new ways of working, such as remote consultations.

This focus group (repeated on two dates) will explore how cloud services can improve efficiency and service performance, as well as how the technology can help enable the NHS to operate as an interconnected system rather than isolated organisations.

It will also highlight how the transition to cloud can free up NHS hospitals to innovate and reduce costs.

Thursday 24 September from 14.30 to 15.30

Cyber Security focus group

The cyber security world is able to adjust/reinvent just as a global virus does but at potentially greater speed. Covid-19 has accelerated the adoption of digital across health services and it is incumbent for each NHS trust to own security in its area.

Furthermore, today’s reliance on digital means that resilience against cyber attacks and patient data breaches has become synonymous with protecting patient outcomes. But as digitisation efforts continue at pace, how can we protect patient safety without inhibiting innovation?

Which cyber security strategies are proving effective? What best practice can we learn from other NHS trusts? What technical solutions are available to protect patient data and services?

This hour-long virtual focus group will bring together an exclusive group of digital leaders across the NHS to discuss the current challenges and future outlook for cyber security.
