Dutch organisation joins COCIR

COCIR – the European Coordination Committee of the Radiological, Electromedical and Healthcare IT Industry – has announced that a Dutch trade association has become its latest member.

The Federation of Technology Sectors represents technology companies in the Netherlands working in industrial electronics, industrial automation, laboratory technology and medical technology.

It offers services to more than 800 members in the medical sector alone and has more than 120 producers and suppliers with a turnover of €1.6 billion.

Luc Knaven, head of medical technology branch, said: “We look forward to working with COCIR in an effort to continually improve the services and knowledge we can offer to our own members.”

FHI joins companies including Agfa, Bosch, iSoft, Philips, Microsoft and Siemens in becoming a member of the Brussels based non-profit organisation.

As well as communicating with EU policymakers on economic, regulatory and technical issues related to healthcare, COCIR works with various organisations to promote standards and regulatory control across the world.

COCIR’s secretary general Nicole Denjoy said: “Trade associations are a valuable part of our membership, representing businesses large and small and helping to expand our outreach in the European countries. We are very pleased to partner with FHI.”

Dejoy has recently taken over as chair of the Business and Industry Advisory Committee (BIAC) task force on health care policy, which advises the international Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

The BIAC taskforce provides input on a wide range of OECD healthcare activities including health data and accounts, improving efficiency in healthcare delivery, innovation and ICT in healthcare.

Dejoy added: “This is a particularly important year for this task force, as the OECD prepares for its health ministerial in October on health priorities in the aftermath of the crisis.
