Our Digital Health Unplugged podcast is set to return this February with brand new episodes for the first time since last October.

The podcast launched in July 2019, talking all things IT and digital technology in the NHS. In the space of a little over two years, it has grown impressively, with thousands of downloads and listens on various platforms.

Digital Health Unplugged’s comeback episode is set to be a chat with Professor Jonathan Benger, chief medical officer at NHS Digital.

He will preview his keynote speaker session taking place on the Digital Transformation Stage at Rewired 2022 and talk about being awarded a CBE for ‘services to the NHS’ in the recent New Year’s Honours List.

Overall in 2021, Digital Health Unplugged was downloaded around 9,800 times, a 97.9% increase on the 5,000 downloads in 2020 and the number of followers on Spotify increased by 223, from 162 to 385.

User engagement also expanded, with clear interest in the podcast on social media and in requests to take part in future episodes.

With the podcast growing exponentially in 2021, our aim is to continue this trend in 2022 and take the podcast to new heights.

After hosting all 52 previous episodes to date, Andrea Downey will no longer be greeting our guests and listeners after leaving Digital Health for a new adventure at Nursing Standard.

Hosting duties will now be shared by new junior news reporter Jordan Sollof and editor Hannah Crouch. Both will sit down for chats with various figures from within the health technology industry to produce engaging and insightful episodes for Unplugged listeners.

Digital Health Unplugged will be available on various podcast platforms, including Spotify, iTunes and Apple Podcasts.
