Social thanking platform, Thanks And Praise (TAP), has launched a new app that allows users to send messages of thanks to anyone working in the healthcare sector, to help improve their wellbeing through the power of gratitude.

TAP currently supports over 5,000 organisations across the UK, by providing the means for the public to show their appreciation to those working in healthcare, social care and education. The new app allows users to share messages of gratitude on organisational thanking walls, as well as be notified if they receive a message of thanks.

In addition, the TAP app’s focus on improving overall wellbeing extends to a My Wellbeing section which contains feel-good articles, podcasts and videos to life people’s mood, as well as top tips that aim to support the wellbeing of TAP’s community.

Clare Mechen, nurse manager at The Adam Practice, said: “While we see ourselves as simply doing our job, it’s great to see how much the public appreciate what we are doing to keep them safe. TAP is the perfect place to share their positive messages of support.”

Gratitude has a powerful impact on both those who receive it and those who give it. An expression of thanks can help calm stress levels, make them feel more socially valued and trigger the desire to help more people. For the person doing the thanking it can give them a positive emotional state, triggering the body’s happy hormones and increasing their own sense of wellbeing.

Matt Findel-Hawkins, CEO of TAP, said: “TAP is designed to improve the wellbeing of healthcare professionals through the sharing of messages of thanks and access to a valuable resource of wellbeing content. Our new mobile app means we can get TAP into even more people’s hands.”
