  • There are plans to extend the platform beyond adult services to include talking therapies, neurodiversity and older adults

North London NHS Foundation Trust has partnered with digital health company Psyomics to improve how people across Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington access mental healthcare.

Psyomics’ digital technology will be rolled out across community services, enabling access to support for more than 1.6 million residents aged 18 to 65 years old.

The beseen platform, developed with clinical psychologists, psychiatrists and researchers at the University of Cambridge, collects data from patients about their symptoms, social, and personal circumstances to give clinicians a clearer view of their needs and inform the most appropriate care pathway.

Jess Lievesley, chief operating officer at North London NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Our collaboration with Psyomics represents a significant advancement in how we support mental health across the communities of North Central London.

“By combining North London NHS Foundation Trust’s clinical expertise with Psyomics’ cutting-edge digital innovation, we are making it easier for individuals to access timely care and creating a more personalised care experience.”

With 25% of submissions completed outside normal office hours, the system ensures that support is available when people need it most and enables faster, more accurate decision-making.

Referrals are also streamlined, meaning that patients do not have to repeat their story multiple times.

The initiative is part of the trust’s wider transformation programme, with plans to extend the platform beyond adult services to include talking therapies, neurodiversity and older adults.

Dr Melinda Rees, chief executive at Psyomics, said: “Our mission is to make mental health services more accessible, efficient and patient-centred.

“Working with North London NHS Foundation Trust means 1.6m people will benefit from a simpler, faster route to the care they need.

“By combining clinical expertise with cutting-edge technology, we can help shape the future of mental health care, making it faster, more efficient, and more patient centred.”

The partnership with North London is hoped to become a national model for modernising NHS mental health pathways by offering a scalable solution that other trusts can follow.

Psyomics’ platform has been taken up by private mental health provider The Priory Group and five NHS mental health trusts, including Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust and Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, making it available to 5 million adults.

The firm estimates that its platform generates efficiency savings of up to £2.5m per trust per year, meaning that if taken up by all 58 trusts in England it would represent a £145m saving to the taxpayer.

Psyomics is now raising £5m in pre series A funding.
