A new group focused on healthcare IT jobs and careers is now live on the business networking site, LinkedIn.

The eHealth Insider Jobs group will highlight useful information and promote discussion about career-related issues.

Membership is free, although anybody wanting to join will have to register with LinkedIn if they are not already members of the network.

EHI director Linda Davidson said: “As we gear up for another great wave of change in the NHS and a period of cuts and austerity in all public sector services, this group will highlight what this means for the careers of people in our community.”

EHealth Insider has run EHI Jobs for the past five years. It has become the leading source of job ads for the healthcare IT industry in the UK and beyond; with more than 8,000 people now registered for its weekly newsletter listing the latest vacancies.

However, the board does not offer careers information or advice. Davidson said the new group on LinkedIn would help fill the gap.

“What is happening to IT jobs in the health service? How will IT professionals be affected by the proposed abolition of strategic health authorities and primary care trusts? Where are the opportunities and how can they be grasped?

“These are the kind of questions we believe group members will want to explore, but, of course, like any social network, EHI Jobs will put members very much in the driving seat.”
