Dr Jordi Piera Jiménez confirmed as keynote at Summer Schools 2024

The leader of one of Europe’s most successful regional health information digitisation programmes has been confirmed as the pioneering international keynote for Digital Health Summer Schools 2024.

Dr Jordi Piera Jiménez leads the digital health strategy for the Catalan Health Service, serving a population of around 7.7 million people.

Using a strategy first developed in the UK, Catalonia has become the biggest health system yet to adopt an open platform to deliver integrated, citizen-centred care.

At Summer Schools, taking place at Durham University on 18-19 July 2024, Dr Piera Jiménez will share his insights and experience on how Catalonia has successfully pioneered the implementation of openEHR at scale, and the benefits it has been able to achieve.

Attendees will also learn from Dr Piera Jiménez how open platforms offer a potential model for integration across regional health and care systems.

This session is ideal for digital leaders working on integrated care programmes looking for inspiration, ideas and real-life examples of region-wide digital transformation.

Dr Piera Jiménez will also be taking part in a Summer Schools workshop exploring the potential of open platforms, including Northumbria’s Open Outcomes, focused on patient reported outcomes as the basis for value-based care.

Sir Jim Mackey, CEO of Newcastle Hospitals and Shauna McMahon, chief information officer (CIO) of Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have been confirmed as an opening joint keynote at Summer Schools.

Digital Health Summer Schools, which is exclusively available for members of Digital Health Networks, brings together chief clinical information officers, chief nursing informatic officers and CIOs, together with current and aspiring digital health leaders for CPD-accredited content, networking and best practices exchange.
