CQC compliance toolkit launched to support private health clinics

Semble has launched an online toolkit designed to help private healthcare providers prepare for Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspections and maintain compliance.
The UK HealthTech company said its ‘CQC Companion’ aims to support clinics navigating regulatory requirements as more clinicians enter private practice.
With most private clinics subject to CQC regulation, Semble said that ensuring readiness for inspections is becoming increasingly complex.
Jonathan Andrews, NHS and private doctor, medical director and freelance CQC advisor, said: “CQC readiness isn’t something that happens overnight.
“For many clinics, particularly those entering private practice for the first time, preparing for a CQC inspection can feel unfamiliar.
“Providers may deliver excellent clinical care but be less certain as to how that translates into the governance and documentation inspectors expect.
“Accessible guidance like Semble’s CQC Companion will help teams approach inspections with greater clarity and confidence.”
The CQC Companion provides step-by-step guidance covering registration, inspection preparation and embedding compliance into day-to-day operations.
The toolkit reflects a wider trend of digital platforms supporting governance and compliance, as providers look to reduce administrative burden associated with regulation and reporting.
It was developed in collaboration with Gabi Ashton, a CQC compliance specialist, and Andrews.
The toolkit includes an inspection-day timeline based on input from a former inspector, alongside advice on registration and self-auditing.
It also features an online guide with more than 100 checkpoints across nine stages of the private practice journey.
Administrative requirements linked to regulation and reporting were cited in a government report, published in October 2024, as a contributor to clinician burnout.
Jenny Williams, senior clinical product manager at Semble, said: “As a former GP, I’ve seen first-hand the pressure healthcare professionals face when it comes to navigating CQC compliance.
“It can be time-consuming, difficult to interpret and a real source of stress.
“The CQC Companion is designed to make that process clearer and more manageable, turning complex regulations into practical, actionable guidance.
“Our goal is to help providers spend less time on compliance and more time with patients.”
The toolkit forms part of Semble’s wider support for clinicians entering private practice, which is available online.
CQC has faced ongoing scrutiny, including concerns about consistency and the performance of its systems.
Digital Health News previously reported that poor IT systems factored in CQC failings, with the regulator later pledging to fix “poorly performing” IT systems following a review.
