Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH) has selected Change Healthcare to be its radiology picture archiving and communication system (PACS) provider.

Change Healthcare, formerly McKesson Imaging & Workflow Solutions, was chosen by the trust following a procurement process. The new system is due to go live later this summer.

Hilary Charlesworth, imaging operations manager at CUH, said: “The functionality of Change Healthcare’s software, its proven track record, cost effectiveness and collaborative approach made us choose them as our PACS provider.

“The trust wide provision of a PACS system from Change Healthcare can help us deliver improved operational efficiency and gives us the necessary tools to lay the foundations for future innovation.”

In addition to the new PACS, Change Healthcare will provide CUH with its Conserus Image Repository, a vendor neutral archive (VNA), and Workflow Intelligence systems.

Ray Cahill, vice-president international at Change Healthcare, said: “We are delighted to have been selected as Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s new enterprise imaging solution provider.

“Cambridge University Hospitals is one of the largest and best-known trusts in the country, a university teaching hospital at the forefront of medical research and development with a worldwide reputation.

“Change Healthcare is committed to a long-term partnership with this leading organisation, to support and enhance enterprise imaging capabilities.”

In June 2018, CUH announced it had selected cloud provider Novosco to manage its IT infrastructure.

The £107 million, seven-year contract will see Novosco provide a range of services to support the global digital exemplar’s eHospital digital programme and its electronic patient record system, supplied by Epic.
