60 Second Interview: Colin Price

  • 27 September 2007

Dr Colin Price is an independent consultant and researcher in health informatics, having retired from a career working in NHS IT. Here, we take a look at how he relaxes away his research and consultancy work.

What’s the first thing you do when you get into the office?

Check my email and plan the day (that’s two things I suppose).

Your favourite gadget at the moment?

A GPS gizmo to stop me getting lost when hiking.

What’s the best thing about your job?

Being able to express opinions openly – a luxury not available to many in UK health IT at the moment.

Favourite book or song (or both)?

“The Diary of a Nobody” by George & Weedon Grossmith.

Pet hate?

The sort of bureaucracy that only the British Civil Service can deliver.

Favourite website?

This summer, that’d have to be www.metcheck.com

What annoys you?

Cold calling from utility providers – just checking I’m happy with their service.

In a perfect world, what would you be doing?

Conducting a symphony orchestra.

What’s caught your eye recently?

An idyllic village in East Leicestershire (with an even more idyllic pub)

e-Health innovation that interests you at the moment?

Telemedicine ECG
