Wilmington Plc has acquired Health Service Journal

Health Service Journal, HSJ, has been acquired by Wilmington Plc.

HSJ, originally founded in 1882 as the Poor Law Officer’s Journal, will be added to Wilmington’s existing healthcare portfolio, which already includes Binley’s, NHiS, OnMedica and Wellards.

In a statement, Wilmington said that that the existing HSJ management team, led by managing director Andy Baker and long-term editor Alastair McLellan, were expected to remain with the business. 

The company added that the acquisition will help provide for the growing needs of providers, payers, the private sector.

Gareth Thomas, managing director of Wilmington Healthcare, said: "HSJ is a primary source of critical information and insight to senior management and decision-makers in the NHS and the wider healthcare sector.”

Andy Baker, managing editor of HSJ, added: “It’s incredibly exciting for HSJ to be joining a business as committed to healthcare as Wilmington and I think it bodes extremely well for HSJ’s subscribers and customers.”
