Health IT industry leader Ewan Davis has joined the board of Digital Health to provide additional expertise and insight on the future direction of the market.

Davis, a highly experienced industry leader, is the current chief executive of inidus, a firm committed to developing an open health and care platform.

He was also the co-founder of app development community Handi Health CIC, a force behind Code4Health, former consultant to NHS England on open source and previously the MD of primary care EPR provider AAH Meditel.

Over the past decade Davis has consistently championed innovation and open platforms, through initiatives including Code4Health and Handi Health.

Davis has joined the board as a non-executive director and will in addition advise Digital Health on how to incorporate open platforms and standards in the further development of its market intelligence service.

Jon Hoeksma, chief executive of Digital Health said, “I’ve had the great pleasure of knowing Ewan since I first began as a journalist covering health IT, and have always valued his insight.”

Hoeksma added: “The term ‘industry expert’ is over-used, but Ewan is the real deal.  He is one the most knowledgeable and far-sighted active champions of innovation and open platforms in UK health IT.  Digital Health is incredibly fortunate to have the benefit of his breadth of expertise.”

He concluded: “Digital Health believes the shift to open platforms and standards now underway in health IT has the potential to be a fundamental industry shift, one vital to accelerating innovation, interoperability.  As the main industry publisher will ensure it is key focus in our future research, news coverage and network events.”

In summer 2017 Mark Hudson, a highly successful IT market research veteran, was appointed chairman of Digital Health. He was previously chief executive of public sector IT market intelligence specialist Kable.
