Beverley Bryant, one of the digital leaders most experienced in leading large-scale NHS initiatives, has been confirmed as a speaker at Digital Health Summer Schools 2025.

Bryant leads on digital programmes and services as chief digital officer across three Dorset NHS trusts: University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Dorset Healthcare University NHS FT and Dorset County Hospital NHS FT.

She is also the senior responsible officer for the county’s strategic electronic health record (EHR) programme.

Previously Bryant worked as joint chief digital and information officer (CDIO) at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS FT and King’s College Hospital NHS FT, where she led a major transformation programme of all clinical applications and workflows, bringing IT systems together across the trusts.

Her previous national roles include director of digital technology at NHS England and chief information officer (CIO) for the Department of Health and Social Care, as well as leading roles in private sector suppliers to the NHS.

Bryant will take part in a next gen workshop on day one of Summer Schools 2025, sharing how she is supporting aspiring digital leaders in her region.

Then on day two she will join a plenary session sharing her invaluable digital transformation experience from a trust level and national perspective.

Bryant said: “I’ve really enjoyed Summer Schools when I have been in the past and think it is a great forum for digital leaders, current and future, to openly discuss the issues that we all face in our organisations trying to drive digital uptake and adoption.

“I’m bringing three of my emerging digital leaders from across Dorset this year. As we move forward with our plans to implement a strategic EHR across Dorset, with Somerset, they will benefit hugely from being able to chat to others who have been through the journey [and] build a wider support network.”

Other confirmed speakers include:

  • Ming Tang, interim CDIO and chief data and analytics officer, NHS England
  • Helen Balsdon, national chief nursing information officer (CNIO), NHS England
  • David Walliker, CDIO, Manchester University NHS FT
  • Haley Grafton, CNIO, University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust
  • Dr Joe Zhang, head of data science, London Centre for AI and Secure Data Environment

Join senior NHS IT leaders for the two-day residential Summer Schools which is taking place on 17-18 July 2025, at the University of Warwick.

The event features CCIO, CIO and CNIO leadership breakout sessions; topic workshops spanning AI ethics, clinical safety, benefits realisation; and NHS digital leadership case studies.
