  • Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust has selected Omega 365’s system as the common data environment for its hospital development programme
  • The contract is Omega 365’s first hospital deal in the UK and draws on its experience with major healthcare projects in Norway
  • The platform will support the redevelopment programme centred on the replacement of Frimley Park Hospital, which is due to be rebuilt by 2030

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust has selected Omega 365’s Project and Asset Management system to support its major hospital development programme, including the planned new Frimley Park Hospital.

The software will act as the common data environment (CDE) for the development programme, providing a single digital platform for managing project information across a portfolio of up to 150 projects.

The agreement marks Omega 365’s first hospital contract in the UK. Frimley Health said it sought a system capable of supporting project performance, governance and control across a complex programme of capital developments.

The system combines programme management, document management, contract management and asset management functionality, alongside Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities.

The trust said the decision was influenced by Omega 365’s experience delivering digital solutions for large-scale healthcare infrastructure projects in Norway.

A spokesperson for Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust said: “We chose Omega 365 because we needed a platform that could match the ambition of the New Frimley Park Hospital programme — one that handles the complexity of a major capital build while laying the groundwork for long-term operations and maintenance.

“Omega 365’s track record in Norwegian healthcare, and particularly their work on the new Stavanger University Hospital, gave us confidence that we were partnering with a team that understands what large-scale healthcare infrastructure demands.”

The first phase of the deployment will focus on portfolio management, establishing a foundation that could later be expanded to support operations and maintenance activities across the trust’s three hospitals.

According to Omega 365, the platform will function as a CDE based on principles developed during its work on Stavanger University Hospital, one of Norway’s largest healthcare construction projects.

Gunnar Hansen, business developer for healthcare at Omega 365, said the contract demonstrates the adaptability of technology originally developed for other highly regulated industries.

“The fact that Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust has chosen Omega 365 demonstrates the platform’s ability to deliver advanced solutions for complex healthcare projects,” he said.

“Omega 365 is developed based on knowledge from the oil and gas sector; now we are transferring this expertise to new sectors and have created an attractive export product for Norway.”

The contract will support the trust’s wider hospital redevelopment programme, centred on the replacement of Frimley Park Hospital.

Frimley Park Hospital needs to be replaced because it was built in the 1970s using reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC), which makes up around 65% of the current building.

The new hospital, which cannot be constructed on the existing site, will be funded through the government’s New Hospital Programme and is scheduled to open by 2030.
