The GP elements of the National Programme for IT in the NHS are destined to become services, while a review of the Summary Care Record will focus on consent and ‘enrichment.’
The Department for Health’s director general for informatics has emphasised that local service provider contracts are still in place; although negotiations with CSC have yet to be concluded.
The National Programme for IT in the NHS’ centralised approach is “no longer required” and will be replaced with “more locally-led” procurement and a modular approach to deployment.
The National Programme for IT in the NHS is set to end in its current form, a ministerial statement will announce this morning.
