HIMSS announces EU leadership summit

  • 7 June 2010

The Health Information Management and Systems Society Europe has announced a new European leadership summit that will take place in Rome, Italy, this autumn.

The summit will provide an executive level forum that HIMSS hopes will attract more than 100 chief executive and chief information officers from health organisations across Europe.

The event from 29 September to 1 October will feature conference and education sessions as well as a leadership summit designed to allow senior decision makers to “formulate the decisions of tomorrow.”

Keynote speakers will include David Garets, president and chief executive of HIMSS Analytics, who will focus on ‘the seven stages of EMR development: essential but insufficient.’

Other topics will include mobility, performance, emerging legal issues, information exchange and succeeding as a senior health IT executive. A number of webinars and road shows will be held in advance of the event.

Jeremy Bonfini, senior vice president of global services at HIMSS, told E-Health Europe: “The summit will assist IT directors and healthcare organisations in responding to the challenges associated with the economic crisis.

"European IT directors will gather to share best practices and to learn how to advance professionally despite a challenging economic environment. HIMSS Europe will also be announcing significant new tools to assist IT directors in this regard.”
