Evergreen Life has acquired Salvie Ltd, the creators of online consultation company, askmyGP.

The move will see patients benefit from a wider range of services and communication with their GPs. Healthcare staff will be able to harness the technical expertise of both organisations to help with managing caseloads and improving patient communication.

askmyGP is an online tool enabling patients to outline their medical concerns or issues, so that they can be triaged appropriately by medical staff. Its smart search algorithm was developed in 2018 to help ensure that patients are directed to appropriate content from the NHS Choices website regardless of the accuracy of the typed search term.

The acquisition will see askmyGP expand Evergreen Life’s primary care services to include online consultations, secure video and messaging.

Harry Longman, CEO and founder of askmyGP, said: “We are joining a company well-established in the healthcare technology industry and which complements our work in being able to offer more to patients, GPs and other healthcare providers. askmyGP enables over 200 GP practices around the UK to manage their workflow and respond to patient demand with outstanding service, resolving 79% of requests on the same day.”

Evergreen Life’s app allows patients to access their medical records electronically and take charge of their health online. As well as allowing users to request doctors’ appointments or order repeat prescriptions, it also offers a Wellness Check functionality. Designed to help users improve their own wellbeing it features clinically-reviewed questionnaires.

With an underlying focus on patient-led healthcare, the two companies will now work together to assist GPs, Clinical Commissioning Groups, Primary Care Networks and health boards to better manage their caseloads and strengthen patient relationships.

Mark Hindle, chief operating officer at Everygreen Life, added: “We believe in putting the individual at the heart of their own healthcare, so people can be empowered to get the health and wellbeing they want and get access to support when they need it.

“askmyGP is leading the way in person-centred solutions by making it easier for patients to talk to their own doctor and help GPs to prioritise and deliver care through message, phone and video. By working together and through the new Evergreen Connect platform, we can join up more areas of the health and care system as part of our mission to deliver People Powered Health.”
