Charac, an NHS-integrated platform for independent community pharmacies, and Positive Solutions, a pharmacy IT provider, have announced an exclusive partnership that will give a digital footprint to independent high street pharmacies currently lacking an online presence.

The new integrative technology platform, MyHealthHub, will give pharmacies a powerful tool to retain and attract new patients, helping to drive patient engagement.

It will support pharmacists in providing an appointment management system, enabling them to hold consultations via video or phone. In addition, patients will be able to re-order their prescriptions through the app.

Steve Russell, chief commercial officer at Positive Solutions said: “This is an exciting time to be working alongside Charac to guide community pharmacies through the significant challenges they are facing.

“The strength of our relationship is founded on our common desire to develop a true Patient Relationship Management platform and our vision for how technology can bring community and pharmacy closer together.

“We made the decision to partner with a specialist given the demand and urgency for a patient app from our customers and looked at all the key players, both domestically and internationally, over the last year.”

The collaboration will form part of the Hx platform, a new technology ecosystem from Positive Solutions, which will be entirely interoperable. The MyHealthHub platform is set to be the first fully integrated patient medication record (PMR) solution of its kind.

It will integrate with Positive Solutions’ Analyst PMR, used by pharmacy teams to process scripts and items. Plus, it will also feature the benefits of the Charac patient app.

Santosh Sahu, founder of Charac, said: “This long-term, exclusive relationship builds on the investment from Royal Mail and will accelerate the development of our solutions for community pharmacy and patients alike.

“Positive Solutions customers can expect an outstanding product which provides support on patient prescriptions and appointment booking while also offering a range of marketing packages to drive services business, as well as our Royal Mail delivery option to save money and improve patient experience.”

In June last year, the Professional Record Standards Body (PRSB) extended its community pharmacy information standard to reflect the expanded role community pharmacists now undertake.
