Health tech firm Soliton IT and Irish start-up xWave Technologies have integrated their solutions with the aim of improving NHS radiology workflow.

The partnership aims to integrate xWave’s clinical decision support solutions into Soliton IT‘s systems to improve radiologists’ workflow, streamline processes and boost reporting efficiency.

Bob Childe, sales and commercial manager at Soliton IT, said: “Our priority has always been to provide radiology departments with intuitive, high-performance systems that streamline imaging workflows without disrupting established processes.

“Our collaboration with xWave Technologies enhances our existing capabilities by embedding intelligent clinical decision support directly into our radiology information systems (RIS) solutions.

“This means radiologists and imaging teams can benefit from automated vetting, improved referral quality, and more efficient reporting – without adding unnecessary administrative burdens.

“Together, we are bringing cutting-edge efficiency to NHS imaging services, ensuring that providers can focus on what matters most – delivering high-quality patient care.”

Integrating Soliton’s existing radiology portfolio and deploying the xWave CDS solution directly into Soliton’s IT systems enables the companies to enhance vetting workflows through rapid analysis of clinical information.

Soliton IT specialises in designing and implementing RIS and sharing solutions for NHS trusts and boards, imaging networks, clinics, teaching centres and private hospitals. Their suite of solutions, including the RIS system Radiology+, is operational in more than 150 hospitals nationwide.

xWave Technologies’ core products use AI and clinical guidelines to drive quality, consistency, and efficiency across imaging referrals, vetting, and scheduling.

By integrating the technologies, Soliton and xWave will be able to test appropriateness to flag incomplete or low-value referrals, supporting quicker decisions, reducing manual workload, improving quality outcomes, clinician experience and the overall patient journey without disrupting existing infrastructure.

Steve McDonald, chief growth officer at xWave Technologies, said: “xWave are incredibly pleased to announce our partnership with Soliton IT.

“This collaboration represents a powerful alignment of two organisations committed to improving radiology workflows and patient outcomes.

“Together, we are enabling scalable, sustainable improvements to imaging services across the UK – delivered through technology that complements, rather than disrupts, existing systems.

“We’re excited to showcase this partnership and demonstrate the tangible impact it can have for healthcare providers and patients alike.”

Earlier this month, xWave Technologies announced that it is partnering with three NHS trusts within the Greater Manchester Imaging Network to deploy its clinical decision support tool.

The partnership with the NHS trusts will see xWave deploy its cloud-based CDS platform to provide GPs with guidance on ordering the most appropriate scans for their patients.
