  • Hi Andy, the sharing of data required an emergency legislative change for Covid-19 because NHS Digital are restricted from sharing (under their current remit) unless it is used in the provision of ‘direct care’. Their remit was outlined in the Health & Social Care act – slightly different than general GDPR. https://digital.nhs.uk/news/2020/data-and-services-supporting-coronavirus

  • The COPI regulations have been in place since 2002 so are not emergency measures as the article suggests. Surely anyone with a legal basis to use data based on the COPI regulations still can?
