iSOFT wins London deal for Radiology Information Systems

  • 9 May 2005

BT has awarded a £3.5 million contract to clinical IT firm iSOFT to provide Radiology Information Systems (RIS) for early deployment sites in London as part of the NHS National Programme for IT.

Under the deal iSOFT will provide its Radiology Information System for use at six hospital sites in the capital. The software will be used in conjunction with picture archiving and communications systems(PACS)  supplied by Philips in London.

The RIS system supplied by iSOFT will initially be stand-alone, and be integrated with national systems at a later stage. The contract awarded to iSOFT covers implementation, deployment and third and fourth line support.

BT awarded the contract in its role as lead of Capital Care Alliance, the prime contractor for NHS IT modernisation in London. In December 2003 the DH awarded BT a ten-year £996m contract to deliver NHS IT modernisation across London.
