iSoft Spain’s incident reporting system due to be rolled out to seven Madrid hospitals has been awarded the prestigious Spanish “Professor Barea” prize.
The iSoft developed and installed Incidences Management System (IMS) is set to be completed early next month as part of a €300,000 project to ensure all incidents in the hospitals are reported.
The first two stages of the project are now finished with iSoft completing the functional and technical design of the application, development and validation. The company is now installing its IMS system on a central server and about to go-live at each of the seven hospitals. Once fully installed it will be available to 800 users.
Julio Bou, managing director of iSoft Spain, IBA’s business unit for Spain, Portugal and Latin America, told E-Health Europe: “This system has been essential for managing the demands of the new healthcare system in Spain where every incident must be accounted for. This new system reflects any kind of incidence and ensures that they are addressed as soon as possible.”
Bou added: “This information system is considered by experts to increase efficiency in providing hospital services and will also serve as a model for other autonomous communities of Spain. We believe the functionality of the system is unique and we are currently unaware of any other solution that covers the functions of the IMS.”
Based on standards including HL7, XML, and DICOM, the iSoft incident reporting system is fully integrated with existing hospital information systems. It also complies with the rigorous security demands of the Spanish Data Protection Act including data encryption and access passwords.
iSoft’s system is being installed at the Hospital Puerta de Hierro de Majadahonda, Hospital del Sureste in Arganda del Rey, Hospital Infanta Cristina in Parla, Hospital del Henares in Coslada, Hospital Infanta Leonor in Vallecas, Hospital Infanta Sofía in San Sebastián de los Reyes and Hospital del Tajo in Aranjuez.
