Christine Connelly, director general, informatics, at the Department of Health, will chair the judging panel for the E-Health Insider Awards 2010 in association with BT.

The awards are now in their fourth year and seek to reward outstanding work within the UK healthcare IT sector.

This year, there are nine categories to enter, plus an overall winner and the Healthcare ICT Champion of the Year Award, which is decided by the readers of E-Health Insider.

The awards will be presented on Wednesday, 6 October at the newly refurbished Grand Hall at the Grand Connaught Rooms, Covent Garden, London.

Jon Hoeksma, editor of E-Health Insider, said: “We are particularly pleased to announce that Christine Connelly will be the chair of the judging panel for 2010.

Last year, more than 350 people attended the awards dinner. Andy Inniss was unveiled as Healthcare ICT Champion of the Year, while other winners included NHS Waltham Forest as team of the year and overall winner for a RiO implementation.

This year’s awards include a new category for suppliers and healthcare teams that are tackling major projects in the UK.

Other judges on the panel include Brian Derry, director of information services for The NHS Information Centre, Martin Murphy, clinical director for Informing Healthcare, and Peter Smith, programme director for BT’s local service provider programme.
