Scotland picks Docman for 16 prisons

  • 24 April 2012

NHS Scotland is deploying PCTI’s Docman document management system in the country’s prisons.

The electronic document management software will be deployed in 16 prisons in a contract worth more than £100,000 over five years.

It will replace manual processes for prison staff and allow the electronic transfer of documents when patients are transferred between prisons or released.

Docman will be hosted centrally in NHS Grampian, alongside the INPS Vision system, which is also being deployed in prisons across the country.

Vision was chosen as the electronic patient record system for Scottish prisons last month, in a five-year contract worth more than £300,000.

PCTI already holds a national contract to provide all of Scotland’s GPs with Docman and its exchange product, EDT Hub.

PCTI managing director Ric Thompson said the company was pleased to be working with NHS Scotland on another national project.

“The partnership we have with NHS Scotland is a great example of how sustainable benefits can be achieved for both patients and NHS Staff whilst reducing on-going costs,” he said.

“Our vision is to help the NHS to deliver paper free care.” Microtech, an IT support and maintenance company based in Scotland, will install and support the solution over the coming months.
