Jersey General Hospital has successfully implemented the MAXIMS electronic patient record (EPR) system across all departments, marking a significant milestone in the Government of Jersey’s digital health transformation programme.

Back in October 2021, the Government of Jersey selected IMS MAXIMS as its preferred EPR supplier, with the aim of fostering sustainable improvements in clinical care for its residents.

The collaboration supports the Jersey Care Record and will also help propel the island forwards in its bid to achieve the highest level of digital maturity: HIMSS Level 7.

Ricardo Silva, digital nurse – EPR clinical lead at Government of Jersey, said: “This go-live represents the beginning of a journey and partnership that will help us achieve our ambitious digital health objectives and we are very pleased with IMS MAXIMS collaboration throughout this programme.”

The implementation was completed on May 28, with the IMS MAXIMS team on-site throughout the entire go-live process, in order to support the Jersey team with a smooth transition.

The new EPR delivers a safe and paperless clinical record that is supported by a comprehensive patient management solution. It will enhance both security and efficiency in Jersey’s healthcare delivery.

Neill McAnaspie, managing director at IMS MAXIMS, added: “Our collaborative approach has ensured we have leveraged the experience of both organisations’ multi-disciplinary teams, bringing experience from a wide variety of clinical, administrative, and technical settings, our combined project team was able to ensure that the solution was implemented in the most efficient and effective way.”

Plans for PreView sexual health solution

The Government of Jersey has also signed a contract on 29 June, with IMS MAXIMS for the delivery of PreView – the company’s sexual health solution.

MAXIMS PreView is a unique browser-based, multi-disciplinary and cross-community solution for sexual health services in primary and secondary care.

Dr Rajesh Hembrom, service lead and consultant in integrated sexual health, HIV and viral hepatitis, commented on the announcement: “I am pleased that IMS MAXIMS will be providing a much-anticipated sexual health EPR to the Jersey Integrated Sexual Health Clinic.

“We expect this well-established browser-based solution to add a suite of welcome benefits to the way in which we operate and provide care. It will be a significant step for our long-term strategy to develop a progressive integrated sexual health and BBV service in Jersey.”

Practice Plus Group – a longstanding customer of IMS MAXIMS – announced last month it would be extending MAXIMS’ EPR solution to a further five sites.
