East and North Hertfordshire renews EPR contract with Dedalus

East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust (ENHT) has renewed its new electronic patient record (EPR) contract with Dedalus.

The contract began on 7 July 2022, the same day it was awarded, and will run for three years, ending on 6 July 2025. According to a notice, the total value of the contract is £2,850,000.

The trust provides a range of general and specialist services across its hospitals and units, including maternity, blood tests, accident and emergency (A&E) and radiology.

ENHT has had its Lorenzo EPR system since 2017 after initially signing a contract for it through a national programme which ended in 2022. After DXC Technology [the supplier behind Lorenzo] completed the sale of its healthcare provider software business to the Dedalus Group in April 2021, the EPR contract was renewed.

They are currently working on their future EPR strategy for a long-term solution, as part of the NHS Frontline Digitisation programme.

The chosen supplier, Dedalus, is one of the largest global healthcare software companies in the world, with over 40 years’ experience of delivering healthcare software and services to over 6,300 healthcare organisations.

Back in March of this year, the company announced that it would cease offering the Lorenzo EPR system in the UK and Ireland and will switch to Orbis.

The more mature Orbis modular EPR product is used in over 1,000 sites in Europe and internationally and was acquired by Dedalus when the company bought Agfa’s health IT division in 2020.

  • Whats the point of a 3 year deal? Seems very short sighted or are they that desperate to switch off their current supplier?
