Community and social care record software specialist in4tek has been bought by Civica Group Ltd.

In4tek, based in Altrincham, specialises in shared record software and related services for the health and social care sectors, serving community and mental health trusts together with adult and child social services departments.

The firm’s main product is the Paris record system, which is said to enable the management of all aspects of community-based care and social care services.

In4tek’s software is used by providers and local authorities in the UK and Canada. However, the firm has struggled to migrate customers from its older systems to Paris.

The market for integrated record systems that support delivery of community care has also become fiercely contested, with providers including CSE Healthcare, TPP and EMIS all making significant strides in this area.

Simon Downing, chief executive of Civica, said in a statement: “In4tek’s customer base, skills and product set extend our capability within an increasingly active health market at a critical time both in the UK and internationally.”

Civica says the acquisition adds specialist capability and expertise to Civica’s current activities in adults’ and children’s services, mental health, child health and community care.

Tom Nawojczyk, chief executive of in4tek, said, “The acquisition is an exciting opportunity for our employees, customers and partners. It provides a stronger, more diverse company with a foundation of operational and financial stability.

Civica specialises in public sector clients, with particular strengths in local government, and offers a diverse range of back office and business applications, together with tools to support delivery of public services.

The company also offers consultancy, change management and systems integration services. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
