Patients Know Best announces 6B as new tech partner

Patients Know Best has named its new technology partner, with Yorkshire-based tech consultancy 6B now responsible for designing bespoke integrations with NHS EPRs to help improve efficiencies.

6B’s primary objective will be to design enhanced bespoke integrations with a number of Electronic Patient Record systems (EPRs), including EMIS, SystmOne and Vision.

Patients Know Best provides patients and healthcare organisations with a patient engagement platform that collects data from multiple sources and provides tools for patient-clinician interactions. Its mission is to ensure that every patient owns a copy of their health information, that they understand what this information means, and that they can use it to support shared decision making with healthcare professionals and family and carers.

The bespoke integrations that 6B will work on will help to remove current limitations so that the need for GPs to authenticate each patient manually is removed, and will also provide more real-time data in bulk, such as demographics, observations, medications, allergies and appointments.

Pad Burns, 6B’s healthcare growth director, said: “We are incredibly excited about helping the business with their integration needs and look forward to forming a long-form strategic partnership.”

The system integration’s goal will be to enhance the functionality of the Patients Know Best platform to enhance efficiencies. In turn, this has the potential to release cash savings, reduce duplication, streamline interactions to increase capacity and ensure a patient’s multidisciplinary care needs are always met.

In addition, it is hoped that it will also provide a more cohesive and personalised experience for patients.

Patients Know Best chief technology officer, Máté Varga, said: “Patients Know Best are thrilled to be partnering with 6B to help us enhance our healthcare integrations, starting with fetch data from other NHS suppliers, as we continue to expand our SaaS offering.

“With standardised APIs and well-defined processes, integrating healthcare data should be a straightforward process, but we recognise that navigating the complexities of the healthcare system can be challenging. By leveraging 6B’s expertise, we’re able to streamline this process and make it more efficient for our patients and users.”

A number of NHS organisations have recently signed up for the Patients Know Best personal health record solutions, including Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust and Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System.
