Innovate UK is working with West Yorkshire Combined Authority to provide targeted support and a share of up to £500,000 for projects that will grow innovation activities in the health technologies cluster in West Yorkshire. The funding competition opened on 10 June, and closes at 11am on 17 July 2024.

???? The introduction of the Minuteful for Wound app, at Swansea Bay University Health Board has won the Chief Nursing Officer’s Sustainability in Nursing and Midwifery award at the Welsh Sustainability Awards 2024. According to a 14 June press release, the app supported the team to go paper-free and digitise patient records, assessments and care plans.

South Tyneside, Northumberland, County Durham, Cumberland, Stockton-on-Tees, Redcar and Cleveland, Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Hartlepool, North Tyneside, Gateshead and Darlington councils are rolling out a digital platform to support unpaid carers. According to the UK Authority website on 17 June, the Mobilise platform has a two-year agreement with the councils.

Research published in the journal njp Parkinson’s Disease on 12 June, has confirmed that smartwatches could help researchers better under Parkinson’s disease and other progressive neurological disorders by detecting changes in symptoms over time in individuals with the condition.

Samsung is exploring new digital health coaching features, as part of its efforts to embed AI technology into its most important products, according to an article published in CNET.  The new features are based on large language models that can interpret a user’s health data and offer insights.

According to Graphite Digital’s Disconnected Pharma: navigating digital challenges and priorities in 2024 report, 36% of senior leaders agree that funding is the biggest barrier to digital adoption and transformation.

The report underscores the need for increased connection across pharma.
