Three of the UK’s stand-out pioneers in applying AI, machine learning and data analytics to healthcare have been confirmed as speakers at Digital Health Rewired 2025.

Dr Dominic Pimenta, Dr Joe Zhang, and Ming Tang will present at the annual conference, taking place at the NEC in Birmingham on 18-19 March 2025, which brings together names from the health sector and digital innovation to share insights, experiences and opportunities.

Dr Joe Zhang, a medical doctor former NHS data scientist and current head of data science at the London AI Centre and Secure Data Environment, where he leads the implementation of data and AI technologies across the OneLondon ecosystem.

During the pandemic, Dr Zhang worked as an intensive care doctor and was an intensive care senior fellow at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London.

Ming Tang, chief data and analytics officer at NHS England, is making a welcome return to the Rewired stage as national keynote, following her presentation at Rewired 2024. Tang is at the forefront of leading the data revolution in the NHS and is a trusted voice on the future of NHS data and innovation.

In his independent investigation into the state of the NHS in England, published on 12 September 2024, Lord Aria Darzi, said that the “extraordinary richness of NHS datasets remains largely untapped”.

Tang will discuss the next steps for her team in developing the NHS’ data and analytics capabilities, and how it will affect digital plans.

Dr Dominic Pimenta, cofounder and chief executive of Tortus, an AI start-up that is helping primary and secondary care clinicians prevent cognitive overload and improve patient outcomes.

Described as a secure, compliant AI platform that interfaces with your electronic health record (EHR) and saves you time, Tortus uses AI to capture patient conversations. In February 2024, the firm announced that it had secured $4.2 million (£3.2 million) in a seed funding round led by Khosla Ventures.

Tang, Dr Zhang and Dr Pimenta will all be speaking at the co-located AI and Data conference at Rewired 2025.

They join a growing list of healthcare and digital experts planned to speak at the event, including Dr Jessica Morley, Mike Bracken, Professor Rachel Dunscombe, Professor Henrique Martins, Helen Thomas and Dr Malte Gerhold.

Rewired 2025, which is co-headline sponsored by The Access Group, will see NHS leaders joined by healthcare providers and planners, researchers, and academics, established industry leaders, suppliers and promising start-ups.

The theme for the 2025 event is ‘achieving productivity, equity and improved outcomes through digital health’ and it will be packed with insights and inspiration for anyone wanting to learn from the UK’s best digital health speakers and NHS case studies.
