RadNet, a US provider of outpatient diagnostic imaging services, and its subsidiary DeepHealth have announced results from a real-world analysis of AI-driven breast cancer screening conducted in the US.

Published in Nature Health, on 17 November 2025, the findings support the clinical effectiveness and benefit of DeepHealth’s AI technology to deliver equitable results across several racial, ethnic, and breast density patient groups.

“Beyond the remarkable results, what sets this research apart is its scale, diversity and real-world applicability,” said Dr Howard Berger, president and chief executive officer of RadNet.

“There has never been a similar study of this size in the United States, much less one with such a diverse patient population, that examines the patient impact and efficacy of AI-assisted breast cancer screening.”

📖 What we’re reading

The European Society for Medical Oncology has published the first global guidance on validation requirements for AI-based biomarkers in cancer care. This landmark framework, called EBAI, sets clear rules for developers, clinicians, and regulators to standardise how AI-based biomarkers are integrated into oncology.

The guidance delves into the ways AI is contributing to decision-making. These systems, the authors write, can predict treatment responses and clinical outcomes, sometimes spotting patterns invisible to humans.

The project is the start of a long-term effort whereby ESMO is building a suite of frameworks to guide the responsible use of AI in cancer care, shaping regulatory discussions and clinical practice worldwide.
