Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust has deployed a portal which allows patients to view their appointments and letters online.

Induction Zesty, which provides patient portals to NHS Hospitals, was selected by the trust to deliver the My RFL Care portal.

Since it was launched in August 2020, more than 50,000 patients have registered for the service with 250,000 expected to register in the first year.

Glenn Winteringham, the trust’s group chief digital officer, said: “The Induction Zesty team have done an outstanding job of delivering the first phase of our digital programme in just eight weeks which gives me a lot of confidence I have the right digital partner to deliver our ambitious roadmap in the future.

“The early results are very impressive with a high adoption rate among our patients. I am excited by the potential this innovation has to make a real difference to our patients as we address the overhang from the Covid-19 pandemic.”

Induction Healthcare announced in May 2020 it was planning to acquire the cash and shares of health tech company Zesty Limited in a deal worth about £13million.

James Balmain, Induction joint chief executive and Zesty founder, added that the partnership was an “important milestone” for the company.

“In just a few months, tens of thousands of patients have successfully registered and used the platform,” Balmain said.

“We look forward to supporting the Royal Free London in delivering further enhanced functionality for their patient portal over the coming months.”
