Digital Health AI and Data 2023 has welcomed Nuance Healthcare as a major sponsor of the upcoming event, which runs 30-31 October at London’s Business Design Centre.

The new conference is for everyone working across health and care interested in better understanding the latest developments in AI and data.

Earlier this year Nuance launched AI-powered automated clinical documentation that instantly transcribes patient notes during patient visits, following its acquisition by Microsoft in March 2022.

Nuance is the sponsor for the AI and Analytics Stage, which is focused on latest developments in the safe development, regulation and deployment of AI tools in health.

The conference programme was launched this week featuring Dr Umang Patel, CCIO of Microsoft UK.

Alongside Professor James Teo, professor of neurology at King’s College Hospital, Dr Patel will deliver a masterclass focused on the future of generative AI in health and care.

The session will embark on an exploration of the generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) frontier within the healthcare landscape. It will shed light on the future directions of these transformative technologies, providing an overview of their potential applications in health and care.

Dr Simon Wallace, CCIO at Nuance, a Microsoft company, said: The recent explosive growth of foundation and large language models, such as GPT-4, points to a future in which clinicians and patients are empowered with personalised medicine, clinical decision support, increased patient access, and workforce optimisation.

“But while the overarching promise for the future of generative AI in healthcare is potentially huge, the conversation around regulation and AI in healthcare is ongoing – and rightly so. As these tools become more powerful and embedded into our daily lives, we must ensure that they are safe.

“As more regulation comes into force, at Microsoft and Nuance, we are committed to ensuring that our AI platforms are both safe and secure.”

Jon Hoeksma, CEO of Digital Health, said: “Confirming Nuance, a household name in digital health, as sponsor of the AI and Analytics Stage really demonstrates the new show’s quality.

“It promises to be a fantastic two days bringing together everyone passionate about the potential of AI and data for the future of healthcare services.

“The published conference programme includes some essential sessions spanning AI, data, and analytics, together with key health data research initiatives linking NHS organisations, suppliers and start-ups, universities, researchers and life sciences companies.”

AI and Data will bring together health professionals, researchers, analysts, data scientists and start-ups, for educational sessions and best practice case studies on the latest and best examples of data science, AI and analytics in action across UK healthcare.

Also participating in the AI & Data conference is headline sponsor Favom, who is joined by major sponsors and exhibitors including  KPMG, dfine and FD

AI and Data is from the organisers of the market-leading Digital Health Rewired and Digital Health Summer Schools events.
