Cambridge University Press has bought two healthcare websites – Breast Cancer Online and Nurse Prescriber as part of an acquisition of Greenwich Medical Media Limited.

Breast Cancer Online, with 17,000 registered users, is a peer-reviewed educational site covering new trends and topical information on breast cancer for healthcare professionals. Nurse Prescriber addresses the market opened up by government initiatives to encourage enhanced nurse participation in the treatment of patients.

The sites are part of a portfolio started by Greenwich Medical Media in 1995 that includes four journals in the areas of cardiology, radiology and anaesthetics and book publishing in a number of medical specialties, notably anaesthesia.

The sale to Cambridge University Press is intended to provide enhanced international outreach both in terms of commissioning and sales.
