Sectra enters the Greek market

  • 10 February 2009

The Swedish IT and medical-technology company Sectra has signed a distribution agreement with the Greek company Proton S.A., a provider of medical imaging and security systems based in Athens.

Proton becomes a distributor of all Sectra’s medical systems and products in Greece and Cyprus.

“Proton has solid experience with products similar to Sectra’s, and this will significantly reduce the time for us to gain traction in the Greek market,” said Torbjörn Kronander, president of Sectra Imtec AB.

Proton will initially focus on sales of Sectra’s digital mammography system, Sectra MicroDose Mammography and Breast Imaging PACS .

“The demand for digital mammography is growing in Greece,” says George Papaetis, president of Proton S.A. “With Sectra MicroDose Mammography, we can provide our customers with a highly efficient solution for mammography screening, at half the dose of competing systems.”

Proton currently sells and services imaging systems within x-ray, endoscopy and ultrasound, but also has a product division focused on security systems such as freight container scanning. Proton, which was founded in 1992, has its headquarters in Athens and branch offices in Thessaloniki and Cyprus.

Sectra is the Scandinavian PACS market leader with more than 50% of all film-free installations. Sectra’s systems are also installed at customers in North America and most major countries in Europe and the Far East.
