Liverpool University Hospitals selects Nervecentre to supply EPR
Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has appointed UK firm Nervecentre to supply its new EPR system.
The £53 million, 10-year agreement will deliver a single, integrated digital patient record across Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital and Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
Liverpool University Hospitals was one of the last remaining acute trusts without an EPR under NHS England’s Frontline Digitisation programme, but had long been expected to announce Nervecentre as its preferred supplier.
Somerset and Dorset sign £222m contract with Epic for unified EPR
Four NHS trusts in Dorset and Somerset have signed a £222 million contract with Epic to implement a unified EPR system across the region.
The joint EPR, called Healthset, is planned to go live across Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust, and Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust in April 2028
It will replace current IT systems, including EPRs, patient administration systems, and several specialty systems to join up healthcare record across acute organisations, community and mental health services.
Sussex Partnership goes live with TPP SystmOne EPR
Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust went live with an EPR supplied by TPP.
The SystmOne EPR was launched on 2 February 2026 to store and manage healthcare information at the trust, with the aim of ensuring that clinicians have up-to-date and accurate information.
It is hoped to improve communications between teams and partner organisations, reduce duplication and paperwork and support better digital integration with other local NHS services.
Stockport and Glossop NHS trusts award EPR contracts to Altera
Stockport NHS Foundation Trust and Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust have awarded contracts to Altera Digital Health to implement EPR systems.
The 10-year contracts will support improvements to patient flow across Greater Manchester, aligning with the region’s shared ambition for a digitally enabled future.
Altera’s EPR systems will replace multiple siloed health IT systems, legacy patient administration tools and core clinical systems, with the aim of giving clinicians a single source of patient information supported by clinical decision tools.
Torbay and South Devon go live with Epic EPR
Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust rolled out an Epic EPR earlier this month.
The system went live on 3 April 2026, bringing patient health information together in a digital format that can be shared across different healthcare settings in Devon.
It includes a range of medical data, including medications and allergies, laboratory test results, radiology images and vital signs.
Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust deploys ophthalmology EPR
Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust has gone live with an ophthalmology EPR system from Medisoft.
The deployment supports the move from paper-based processes to a fully digital clinical environment, with the aim of enhancing the way clinical data is captured, managed and shared across the organisation.
Royal Surrey will share its mediSIGHT EPR system with Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, creating a shared ophthalmology platform that enables joined-up care across both organisations.
IBM awarded £160m to transform NHS App into ‘health companion’
NHS England has awarded IBM a £160.1 million contract to support the development of the NHS App, as it looks to transform the platform into a personalised “health companion”.
In the contract notice, published on 2 April, NHSE says: “IBM has been formally appointed as a strategic delivery partner as we continue to develop secure, reliable and user-centred pathways and services at scale.”
The two-year contract begins on 1 May 2026 and runs until 31 March 2028 “following the completion of a competitive procurement process and due governance”.
