Agfa IMPAX 6 PACS

Agfa Healthcare has announced that it has successfully deployed the first phase of its imaging and informatics solution to the Basque region of Spain.

It has deployed the solution across seven of the 28 Osakidetza facilities run by the Basque Health Service.

Agfa was selected in 2007 to install its IMPAX 6 multi-site PACS solution, a centralised radiology information system, 59 computed radiography solutions and 52 diagnostic imaging printers across five hospitals and 23 primary care trusts in the Basque Country.

The implementation will provide for the diagnostic image management and communication needs of the radiology departments across the region. It will also enable hospitals to share to share radiology information with primary care services. Information and reports will be available to GPs.

Martín Begoña, chief information officer at Osakidetza, said: “The fact that the company was able to deliver us a complete solutions portfolio, including CR systems, imagers, PACS and all the necessary supporting tools to meet out objectives was a critical part of the decision. We are happy to say that they have delivered high quality results at the first roll-out sites.”

The first phase of the roll-out is being immediately followed by a larger deployment across the region.

Sergio Irayzoz Del Castillo, responsible for healthcare IT at Agfa healthcare in Spain said: “Osakidetza’s requirement for a fully integrated and structured approach to managing its radiology needs across an entire region is a strategy being rolled out by many care facilities and governments across Europe and North America.”
