Carestream Health has announced it has won orders to supply eleven Kodak Directview digital radiography systems in Scotland.

The systems will be supplied to Greater Glasgow and Clyde and Fife Health Boards and come as part of the overall modernisation of Glasgow’s acute hospitals.

Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board is in the process of completing two new Ambulatory Care Hospitals in and around Glasgow.

The Victoria Infirmary on the south side of the city will be installing three Kodak Directview7500 systems. The new Victoria will be one of the largest hospitals in Scotland when it opens later this year.

The £100m Stobhill Hospital on the North side of the city, will install three DR7500 systems and a Kodak Directview DR3500 system.

Installations of the DR7500 will also include the latest software to increase productivity and image quality.

Fife Health Board will also install two Kodak Directview DR7500 systems at the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline and one system each in both the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy and the new St Andrews Memorial Hospital.

Anton Graule, regional business manager, Europe North, Carestream Health said: “Customers are choosing digital products from Carestream Health to improve both the quality and cost of patient care.

“We are rapidly expanding our DR base across Europe as our innovative solutions meet the application, workflow and budget requirements of an increasing number of healthcare institutions.”

The Kodak Directview DR7500 hopes to provide both health boards with digital radiography flexibility. It features a wall stand and fixed elevating system to maximize patient care.

Although each hospital’s radiology department has different configuration needs and workflow, the system can be configured to fit a particular space, procedure, or budget.

It will also feature the same user-friendly, touch-screen operator interface as other Kodak Directview computed radiography and digital radiography systems.

Earlier this month, Carestream showcased a range of new products at European Congress of Radiology in Vienna. The company will continue to launch these throughout the year.
