EMIS Web was rolled out to 360 GP practices last year. In a trading update for the year ending 31 December, EMIS said a further 207 practices went live with its ‘next generation’ system in the final six months of 2011.

A similar announcement last autumn said there were 150 go-lives in the first half of the year.

By the end of 2011, 360 GP practices were live with EMIS Web and 147 ‘extended primary care organisations’.

There were 1,565 orders for EMIS Web and 2,359 practices in the EMIS Web Familiarisation Service.

The company said it was continuing to prepare for the ‘accelerated’ roll-out of EMIS Web and had taken on 74 more employees in the second half of 2011; taking the total to 950.

The group also spent about £2m on another property in North Leeds last December to provide extra capacity for growth.

EMIS said its systems were being used in 53.1% of GP practices and the group’s pharmacy system provider, RX Systems, was serving 34.4% of high street pharmacies.

Trading for the year was in line with management’s expectations, with recurring revenue continuing at over 80%. The group had net cash of £7.8m at 31 December 2011 compared to £1.7m at the same time last year.

EMIS Group chief executive Sean Riddell said the outlook for the new financial year was positive and the EMIS team was confident of the group’s strategic positioning and growth prospects.

EMIS plans to issue its 2011 annual results on 16 March 2012.
