Plain Healthcare is offering a year’s free use of their receptionist support software for EMIS LV users in return for feedback on how they used the system.

Plain’s Odyssey Receptionist Assessment, which is installed as a module within EMIS LV’s general practice software, allows receptionists to triage patients using a drop-down menu and to prioritise the urgency of cases.

Chris Coyne, head of sales and marketing at Plain Healthcare, said: "We are offering the program free to a number of GPs prepared to help us understand how they use it.

"It has been fully tested in development and it is a very efficient and simple system but we would like the views of the very people who will be using it. The GPs who will get the software free will be selected on a regional basis."

The software is aimed at non-clinical staff, and Coyne added that the module will benefit GPs by making more efficient use of their appointments diary and improve patient safety.

To express an interest in receiving the free software, practices should e-mail jo.haertel@plain.co.uk with their name, address and telephone number, manager and the size of the practice.

Practices that take part in the survey will be able to use Odyssey Receptionist Assessment for a year before being given the option to buy it outright.
