The latest Digital Health Unplugged is now live – this time taking a look at the government’s white paper for health and care and proposed plans to merge NHSX into a ‘transformation directorate’.

Tune in to hear from members of the Digital Health Advisory Panel, James Reed, CCIO Network chair; Ade Byrne, CIO Network chair; Anne Marie Cunningham of the CCIO Network; and Jon Hoeksma, Digital Health’s editor-in-chief.

The panel discuss whether the proposed changes are the right direction for digital transformation within the NHS and what is needed for a successfully joined up health and care service.

The government released its white paper for health and care last month which will embed Integrated Care Systems in law and aims to reduce red tape around procurement and data sharing.

The plans follow health secretary Matt Hancock’s ‘bureaucracy-busting mission’, which aims to improve the use of data within the NHS and would see the health service capitalise on “good practice” responses during Covid-19.

Shortly after, plans to merge NHSX and other national organisations into ‘transformation directorate’ were revealed. Matthew Gould, NHSX’s CEO, said the move was a “positive step” towards digital transformation.
